The Pekoe Trail Stage 02
Galaha To Loolkandura
The Pekoe Trail is a 300-kilometer curated long distance walking trail through the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka, often called Asia's best kept secret. The 22-stage walking trail takes you through some of the finest ecology and mountain terrain in South Asia, starting your journey in Kandy and winding your way to Nuwara Eliya, passing through Haputale, Hatton and Ella.
The Pekoe Trail is the first of its kind in Sri Lanka and offers a bucket list experience for avid hikers and nature enthusiasts.
Stage 2 of the Pekoe Trail is a hike from Galaha to Loolecondera, Sri Lanka. It is a challenging route, but it is also one of the most popular stages of the trail. The hike is divided into two sections: the first section from Galaha to Deltota, and the second section from Deltota to Loolecondera.
The first section of the hike is a short and rewarding hike. The first stretch is on the road toward Galaha General Hospital. From there, the trail climbs through a forest with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. This section of the hike is also home to the Ravanagama Temple, a Hindu temple that is said to be over 2,000 years old.
The second section of the hike is a longer and more challenging hike. The trail climbs through tea plantations and forests, and it offers stunning views of the Knuckles Mountain Range. This section of the hike is also home to James Taylor's Cottage, the birthplace of Ceylon tea
